译后记 | Translator's note

发现福禄寿（已改名为 Doudou）更新了《嗵嗵》《当我们点起火把》《可你听到了》几首歌，带歌词跟听之后惊为天人…… 大为感动…… who’s crying i’m not crying 😭😭😭 尤其是《当我们点起火把》，超越了她们以前所有的作品，在语言无法企及之处歌唱…… 很想当场开始翻译，但感觉还需要再斟酌一下用词。

《嗵嗵》则是《没咯》的姐妹作，原名为《生声》，心跳、花开、松果落的声音。按照主唱的话说，这首歌是「一个自由自在的生命，在时间的轮回中自由的起舞」，而我听到「生与死的狂欢颂歌」。相比之下工作是多么微不足道的事情啊。立刻动手翻译：上午用纸笔在办公室写了初稿，下午就回住处改好了基本终稿，同步了视频字幕。晚上跟 beta reader 分享了成品。希望最终版本有传达到原作在措词和节奏上的简洁明快。

如果说《嗵嗵》是一个问题，那么《当我们点起火把》就是一个答案。准备多在心里无限循环这首歌，希望能给它一个合宜的译版。

Found out about the new songs from FloruitShow (now Doudou), including Thump Thump, When We Light the Torches, Yet you heard. I’m honestly so moved after listening… who’s crying i’m not crying 😭😭😭 Especially touching is When We Light the Torches - it exceeds all of their prior works, and what cannot be conveyed by words will reach you on the wings of music… I wished to start translating it right away, but still need some time to ponder about it.

Thump Thump is a sister work to FloruitShow: Ashes to ashes | 福禄寿：没咯. The original name of this song is The Sound of Life, the sound of hearts beating, flowers blooming, and pine cones falling. In the words of FloruitShow themselves, this song is about “A life wild and free, dancing in the Samsara of time”. What I hear is a revelrous hymn to the wheel of life and death. In its light, my day job seems insignificant. So I began translating Thump Thump at once: the first draft was created on paper at my office desk, the almost-final draft and subtitle sync was immediately completed that afternoon. On the same night I shared the video with my beta reader. Hopefully the final version managed to retain the clean and brisk rhythm of the original lyrics.

If Thump Thump is a question, then When We Light the Torches is its answer. I will be infinitely looping the latter in my mind until I could do it some justice in translation.
